75 years of people and technology on the move – a reason to celebrate

JUMO will be inviting those who have been a part of its journey for many years to Fulda for an anniversary gala to celebrate its 75th birthday. The invited guests − customers, suppliers, as well as representatives from the worlds of politics, finance, and society − will be treated to an exciting program.

It will include a company chronicle created especially for this occasion which offers fascinating insights into the last 75 years of JUMO. Two other premieres also attract attention: an anniversary video and a JUMO song created from the employee campaign “There’s music at JUMO” (presented live by the JUMO House Band).

A Glamorous Event: The Highlights

The review of the event can be described in a single word: “bombastic”. After all, numerous guests from the field of politics, business, and administration as well as former and active JUMO colleagues were more than enthusiastic about the supporting program of the eventful anniversary gala.

Particularly the anniversary video and the company chronicle were big hits. This video took the guests on an exciting journey through time and underlined the anniversary motto with impressive pictures: “75 years of people and technology on the move”. Other topics included the extensive solution portfolio and the cooperation that has been practiced in the JUMO family for years. The company chronicle, which was fresh off the printing press, also received a great deal of applause and was given to the roughly 120 guests to read on their way home.

Entertainment was provided by the internationally known “Chris Genteman Group”, which played music from different eras and enticed everyone to dance to a variety of beats. The highlight of the evening, however, was without question the performance of the JUMO House Band, which was formed especially for the anniversary. With its self-composed song “JUMO Gets It Done!” it not only brought the house down, but created a real catchy tune right from the start.

Tradition through change

Apart from all the festive exuberance, however, the event also featured plenty of thoughtful moments and historical retrospections. General Partner Bernhard Juchheim, for example, went into detail about the early days of the company, when company founder Moritz Kurt Juchheim achieved his first successes with patented glass contact thermometers. Even then, his father had always looked ahead and knew that thermometers had to be further developed and the product range expanded to stand one’s ground against the competition. He always had close tabs on the market and was good at anticipating technical developments. The company founder had been an entrepreneur and not one to simply wait for things to happen by themselves.

This philosophy explains why JUMO is among the 4 % of all companies in Germany that are over 70 years old. “Tradition through change” is therefore something like our company motto. But change cannot be prescribed, it has to be lived – especially by the employees,” said Bernhard Juchheim.

In addition to the General Partner, numerous other speakers addressed the history and regional significance of JUMO. One of the topics, of course, was the new plant in Technology Park West. Fulda’s mayor Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld presented Bernhard Juchheim with a picture depicting the history of the city.
